Influenza by the numbers

10 to 25 Estimated percentage of Canadians who could have influenza in a given year.
4,000 to 8,000 Estimated number of Canadians, mostly seniors in frail health, who die every year from pneumonia.
24 to 48 Number of hours a flu virus can stay alive on a hard surface, such as a counter or door knob.
7 to 10 Number of days on average it takes to fully recover from the flu.
