Skin cancer by the numbers Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer, with incidence rates increasing at an annual rate of about 1.6 per cent for males and 1 per cent for females between 1996 and 2004. Mortality rates have stabilized in recent years for males and dropped by .08 per cent for women.
