"Required Organizational Practices (ROPs) are evidence-based practices addressing high-priority areas that are central to quality and safety.  Accreditation Canada defines an ROP as an essential practice that health service providers must have in place to enhance patient safety and minimize risk" (HSO, 2019).

Each HSO standard has several applicable ROPs embedded within it.  Each ROP has several Tests for Compliance which identifies the expectations to fulfil the ROP.  Before an organization can say they have "met" the ROP, they must have all tests for compliance in place associated with that ROP (HSO, 2019).

Accreditation Canada Surveyors will evaluate if the Organization meets the ROPs as part of their onsite visit (HS0, 2019).
