Intraoperative Monitoring

The intraoperative monitoring of spinal patients with advanced neurophysiologic testing to confirm the integrity of the central nervous system from brain through peripheral nerve has been routine for three years in selected cases of complex spinal cord and peripheral nerve surgery.

The surgeons, in collaboration with the neurophysiologic monitoring team, can assess on a minute-to-minute basis, the integrity of spinal cord function and the progress of spinal surgery.

Somato-sensory evoked potentials, visual evoked potentials and motor evoked potentials are frequently used.

Magnet cortical stimulation is planned to be introduced in the near future.
