Pediatric Neurosurgery is a subspecialty of neurosurgery dealing with disorders unique to the developing brain and spinal cord in children, from infancy to age 18. All Pediatric Neurosurgery at the University of Manitoba is performed at Winnipeg Children's Hospital, the only free standing Children's Hospital between Toronto and Calgary. Winnipeg Children's Hospital is the pediatric tertiary referral center for Manitoba as well as parts of Northwestern Ontario, Eastern Saskatchewan, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories.

The Pediatric Neurosurgery Clinic at Children's Hospital is staffed by a full time Pediatric Neurosurgeon specialized in the treatment of neurosurgical disorders in children including brain tumours, hydrocephalus, spina bifida, spinal disorders, spasticity, trauma, and craniofacial disorders. Winnipeg Children's Hospital has a full range of pediatric subspecialists including pediatric neurologists and specialized pediatric anaesthetists. In addition, Children's Hospital contains a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) staffed by specialized Pediatric Intensivists. The Neurosurgery Operating Room at Children's Hospital is fully equipped with a state of the art operating microscope, intraoperative ultrasound and specialized neurosurgical instruments.
