OVERVIEW

The Neurosurgery Facility

The Section of Neurosurgery is centred at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre, encompassing the former Winnipeg General Hospital and Winnipeg Children’s Hospital. Both facilities utilize state-of-the-art neurosurgical operating theatres and specialized nursing care. In addition, a fully equipped interventional neuroradiology suite, 2 MRI scanners and 3 CT scanners, offer patients a full range of neurodiagnostic tests.

The Health Sciences Centre is also home to the Winnipeg Centre for Gamma Knife Surgery, the first unit in Canada to offer Gamma Knife radiosurgery as a treatment option.
