VASCULAR MALFORMATIONS

Meningiomas

The philosophy in treating meningiomas is evolving. There is a trend towards treating these tumors more often when they are small, before they have a chance to enlarge and cause problems. Treatment with GKS for residual tumor after a de-compression can also help to stop tumor cell growth and limit the risk of recurrence. The dose of radiosurgery necessary to control these tumors is low enough that it is very safe, exposing the surrounding brain tissues to minimal radiation.
