Vascular neurosurgery is the neurosurgical subspecialty dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular disorders including stroke, intracranial aneurysms, and brain and spinal vascular malformations. The Section of Neurosurgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Manitoba has a strong and dedicated vascular neurosurgery program which has developed management protocols for treating cerebrovascular disorders that incorporate recent developments in stroke neurology, microneurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology, stereotactic radiosurgery, neuroanesthesiology, and critical care.
