Overview - Structure of the Program
Residents' plans of study are established from a list of required rotations and elective rotations. Required rotations meet the Accreditation Standards of the Canadian Hospital Pharmacy Residency Board. There are opportunities to sub-specialize in the care of selected patient populations during elective rotations. All pharmacy practice rotations are conducted in a WRHA pharmacy or with a multi-disciplinary team at one or more WRHA facilities. A complete listing of current program rotational requirements can be found here.
Prior learning and work experience, individual preferences and career plans are taken into consideration when creating each resident’s plan of study. Rotations are sequenced to maximize a resident’s learning. Residents are encouraged to select rotations that provide a mix of community and tertiary care experiences. Where possible, rotations, vacation and conference leave are sequenced so that residents have intermittent training breaks.
