Overview - Benefits of a WRHA Residency
The WRHA Pharmacy Practice Residency Program has successfully trained more than forty pharmacy practice leaders since 1981. Most graduates are employed in advanced practice positions in the Winnipeg Region or at other major hospitals in Canada. Many residents have gone on to pursue PharmD or Masters degrees. Other graduates are employed in the medical journalism or pharmaceutical industries.
Graduates of the WRHA program receive a Certificate that confirms completion of the program. Graduates are also entitled to use the ACPR (Accredited Canadian Pharmacy Resident) designation after their name. Some employers recognize the ACPR designation by providing an educational allowance or higher pay rate on a set scale at the point of hiring.
Several local, regional and national awards have recognized WRHA residents’ projects. Graduates of the WRHA Pharmacy Residency Program are often invited to speak at local, regional, and national pharmacy meetings.
Residency experiences and reasons for completing a residency program vary from person to person. Please contact the Residency Program Coordinator if you'd like to be put in contact with a current or past resident, to learn more about the WRHA Pharmacy Residency Program experience.
