Pharmacy Students
Candidates for employment as a pharmacy student in a WRHA Pharmacies are required to have the following General Qualifications:
- Be currently enrolled, and in good standing as a student in a School of Pharmacy accredited by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) or the American Council on Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
- Registered as a Pharmacy Student or Pharmacy Intern, Manitoba Pharmaceutical Association, if applicable
- Demonstrated poise and aptitude for communicating professional information and the ability to deal appropriately with matters of an urgent nature
Position availability for pharmacy student summer employment, which may also include a requirement to work a limited number of hours during the regular academic year, is announced on the University of Manitoba Faculty of Pharmacy Notice Board and on the WRHA website between December and February each year, for employment commencing the next summer.
To express interest in employment as a pharmacy student, please follow the directions in the position posting on the WRHA website. Your letter of interest and Curriculum Vitae should include the following minimum information:
- Your contact information
- ground mail address
- day/evening telephone number
- email address and fax number, if available
- Your reasons for seeking employment in a hospital setting
- The Competition Number or Job Posting number for which you wish to be considered
- Your educational qualifications:
- The University or School of Pharmacy at which you are currently enrolled, and the month and year when you expect to receive your pharmacy degree
- Other relevant degrees or certificates, including the name of the school or organization that conferred the credential, and the year the credential was conferred (e.g., Bachelor of Arts or Science degree, etc)
- Prior pharmacy work experience
- Non-pharmacy work experience
- Publications and presentations
- Involvement in volunteer activities or professional organizations, including specific contributions you have made to these organizations, if applicable
- Registration as a Pharmacy Student, Pharmacy Student Intern or pharmacist with the Manitoba Pharmaceutical Association, or other Canadian or international pharmacy regulatory authority
