Riverview Health Centre Pharmacy Services

Pharmacists provide direct patient care to rehabilitation and long-term care residents through integrated clinical-distributive practice. Pharmacists are active on care teams responsible for delivering palliative care, respiratory or neuromuscular rehabilitation, behavior management, long-term care for dementia, and continuing care for ventilator dependent patients.

The pharmacy team also includes pharmacy technicians, who play important roles in the computerized (Cerner HealthVision), automated unit-dose (Pyxis) drug distribution system, as well as purchasing, wardstock, and inventory control systems.

Pharmacy Services works collaboratively with other members of the Riverview Health Centre community. Pharmacy staff members have a unique opportunity to build pharmaceutical care relationships, not just with residents, but also with their families – including assisting with programs designed to meet the socialization and recreation needs of residents and members of the larger community. Ongoing education and specialization are encouraged. The pharmacy is open Monday to Saturday, daytime shifts.
