Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program
The WRHA Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program is responsible for an integrated continuum of child and adolescent mental health services, in both hospital and community settings.
The Health Sciences Centre, the St. Boniface General Hospital and the Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre offer inpatient, outpatient, assessment, treatment, consultation, emergency and community services. These are available to children and adolescents from Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario and Nunavut. Individual, group, family and medication based treatments are provided from a variety of perspectives. Treatment is delivered in partnership with families and various referring agencies.
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program emphasizes multidisciplinary teams which include psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, treatment workers and mental health clinicians. There is a commitment to providing high quality treatment in community settings. The newly created centralized intake system provides improved access and shorter waiting times by providing a single point of entry to all WRHA child and adolescent mental health services.
