Critical Care Program

Units

The Critical Care Program provides adult critical care services to the population of the City of Winnipeg and serves as a referral centre for the Province of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. Services include tertiary care, secondary care, and coronary care. Services are provided in six sites with a bed base of 84.

Health Sciences Centre provides tertiary services and is the provincial trauma, burn and neurosurgical centre:

  • Medical Intensive Care Unit (10 beds)
  • Coronary Care Unit (6 beds)
  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit (10 beds)
  • Intermediate Intensive Care Unit (6 beds)

St. Boniface Hospital provides tertiary services:

  • Medical Intensive Care Unit (8 beds)
  • Coronary Care Unit (6 beds)
  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit (9 beds)

Community Hospitals

There are also 4 critical care units at the following community hospitals with the capability of invasive monitoring and mechanical ventilation.
