Clinical Engineering Program

Acceptance Testing

The Incoming Inspection Portfolio provides a consistent methodology for inspecting newly arrived medical equipment managed by Clinical Engineering before they are formally put into service. An Incoming Inspection Manual will be used by clinical engineering staff in all WRHA facilities to manage incoming inspections through standardized processes. The portfolio ensures a common management and quality control practice, consistent method of confirming that medical equipment are as per desired specifications, proper documentation is provided and confirms safety and efficiency of the equipment before any patient use. The portfolio also advocates for patient/staff/public safety by mandating a comprehensive inspection of the newly arrived medical equipment regardless of the ownership.
