The WRHA StAR Program is an HR-lead initiative with participation from a team of staff across the WRHA, all committed to meeting the WRHA Vision "We will be an organization of staff who are proud of their work and are recognized, respected and rewarded". This team is continually developing new programs and enhancing existing programs to make the WRHA a great place to work.

Discounts

There are numerous Discounts available to all health care staff from various services within and around Winnipeg ranging from fitness facilities, restaurants and car dealerships.

WRHA Service and Retirement Recognition

All WRHA employees who have attained 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of uninterrupted service are recognized for their service at the Annual WRHA Service Recognition Event held each year.

WRHA staff retiring during the past calendar year are also honored at the annual WRHA Service Recognition Event if they have at least 15 years of uninterrupted service in health care.

The 2011 annual reception will be held November 24th at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. Employees will be presented with a Certificate of Recognition and a gift that they have chosen from a selection of gifts.  Invitations will be sent out to all eligible WRHA employees by October 10, 2011. If you have attained a milestone this year and have not received your invitation by October 14th please contact Dana Whyte at dwhyte@wrha.mb.ca .

StAR "Thank you For Being a Star" Cards are available in all WRHA offices giving staff an opportunity to let co-workers know that they are appreciated. Electronic StAR Cards are now also available!

Recognition Resource Guide
Recognition that motivates staff is an intensely personal and internal matter for which there is no cookie-cutter approach.  The Recognition Resource Guide is offered as an e-resource that will assist managers with practical, spontaneous day-to-day real life forms of recognition creating a culture where staff feel valued and appreciated.

StAR Library

A lending library of books related to staff appreciation and recognition is available for staff.

Workplace Wellness

The Workplace Wellness Team develops initiatives that promote, encourage and support WRHA staff regarding health and wellness. The Information Series, offered four times a year, are one way to promote spiritual, emotional, physical, well-being. WRHA employees are encouraged to take Wellness Breaks - an opportunity to adjust work hours to accommodate attendance at wellness activities during the lunch break.

Social Committee

The WRHA Social committee continues to organize various events. These social activities enhance team-building among staff members. Annual events include the Staff Holiday Reception; Children's Breakfast with Santa and Annual Golf Tournament.
