Information for New Grads

Starting a career as a nurse is an exciting time. You’ve finished your education. You’re optimistic and hopeful about starting to work in your field of choice and gain valuable on the job experience.

There are certain things for new grads to consider as they start working in facilities. That’s why the Region has compiled resources to support this important transition.

New Grad Day for Nurses

This annual event brings together a few key elements: experts on issues new grads need to consider, managers/supervisors/educators of new grads and resources to help new grads make a healthy and strong transition into the workforce.


Armed with theory, hands on practice is essential as you start in the workforce. This is where working with more experienced nurses is an invaluable teaching experience and critical part of transitioning into your new role.

Gain valuable work experience and benefit from mentoring and orientation in a program that may not have an available posting.
