Nurses across Canada are talking about a new computerized adaptive Registered Nursing entry exam.
The Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE) is the way a registered nurse is assessed and determined qualified to practice in Canadian health care. The proposed changes would only impact those looking to be initially registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba as a registered nurse, not nurses who are currently practicing.
In December, it was announced that several jurisdictions selected the National Council of State Boards of Nursing to develop a new computerized adaptive Registered Nursing entry exam. If finalized, this could mean phasing out the CRNE and introducing the new exam as early as 2015.
