Provincial Standardization of Intravenous (IV) Infusion Delivery System - Promoting Patient Safety
The IV Infusion Delivery System Project is an extensive inter-professional collaborative effort on the part of all the Regional Health Authorities of Manitoba.
This is an important development for patients, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, clinical engineers and other health professionals involved with the use of consumables (e.g. IV tubing, safety catheters, sets and solutions) used in conjunction with the large volumetric pumps. The contracts for these devices will expire on December 31, 2013.
Standardization is the ultimate goal of this project. One of the ways standardization will help promote patient safety is by reducing the risk of adverse events during patient transport.
Check back to this page as more information on future phases of the project will be communicated to health care professionals throughout the province.
