

The EAP is a benefit provided and paid for by your employer and is endorsed by the Manitoba Council of Health Care Unions. No costs are assessed to the employee for this benefit. Manitoba Blue Cross, who has been delivering EAP services to employees of some facilities within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and the Direct Service Home Care group, has also been selected to deliver this benefit to employees of the other RHAs.
Who is eligible?
All permanent full-time and part-time, temporary, term and casual employees, including their spouses and dependent children are eligible for EAP benefits. Benefits are available immediately upon enrollment with no waiting period.
What services does the EAP provide?
The EAP will provide the following types of counseling service to you and your eligible family members:
- Marital/Relationship
- Family/Parenting
- Addictions
- Emotional or Behavioral
- Anxiety and Depression
- Occupational Stress/Adjustment
- Career and Vocational
- Violence/Abuse
- Financial (budgeting, financial crisis)
- Information and/or Referral
- Critical Incident/Trauma
How will I access EAP services?
Confidentiality is the most important aspect of your EAP. To access services, you do not have to notify your employer or anyone in your facility. You or your family members can call the Blue Cross Employee Assistance Centre 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When you call, in order to ensure confidentiality, you will be provided with options for your selection of individual counseling/assistance. This may include counseling from the identified EAP counselor in your community or geographical area, from a counselor in another community or area, attendance at one of the EAP offices located in Winnipeg, or at your option, telephone counseling etc.
