Preventing Injury

Injuries are predictable and preventable. They are not accidents. Yet injury is the leading cause of death for Canadians ages 1-44. The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is committed to reducing the occurrence of injury by:

  • Creating public and professional awareness of the causes of injury and how to prevent injuries
  • Helping to develop effective community partnerships and networks to address key injury issues
  • Helping to identify and initiate strategies and resources needed to create and carry out effective injury prevention programs.
