WRHA Employees & Active Transportation

Commuter Survey Results

As part of the WRHA’s Physical Activity Promotion Team’s participation in the Healthy Canada by Design initiative, over 1600 WRHA staff participated in a survey about commuting and active transportation use (walking, cycling, transit, etc).

We are pleased to share a summary of the results. We hope this information can be used as a starting point for different work sites as they explore options that could gain traction with their staff.

Background Information

A survey was distributed by email in 2014/15 to WRHA sites we were able to access via email. For specific survey questions, see this link

We received 1662 responses from WRHA employees. For a summary of the number of respondents by work site, see WRHA Survey Findings

For more information on policies and programs that employers can implement, see Transportation Demand Management for Employers

There is a large body of evidence indicating that people who are engaged in AT to work are healthier, happier, have better workplace attendance records and increased productivity. For a summary of evidence, see Active Transportation and Employee Productivity

Site Specific Reports

For sites that had more than 100 survey respondents, we developed site-specific reports. Two versions of each report were created, formatted for slightly different audiences.
