National recognition for three nurses in the Region

The work of three nurses in the Winnipeg Health Region is being recognized at a national level by the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA).

Since 2008, CNA has presented annual awards to honour excellence in five areas of practice: clinical nursing practice, nursing administration, nursing education, nursing research and nursing policy.

Lori Lamont, Vice President of Interprofessional Practice and Chief Nursing Officer for the Region, will be honoured with the order of merit for excellence in nursing administration. Preetha Krishnan, a nurse practitioner working at both Misericordia Place and Lion's Personal Care Centre, will be presented with the order of merit for excellence in clinical nursing practice. Deb Fraser, a nurse practitioner who works in the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Boniface Hospital, will be awarded with the order of merit for excellence in nursing education.

This year's awards presentation will be at a gala event that is part of the CNA bi-ennial convention. The convention will be held in Winnipeg this year.

Congratulations to Lamont, Krishnan and Fraser for their extraordinary work and contribution to the health and wellness in this community.
