Medical Geneticist

The Genetics and Metabolism Program is seeking to recruit a Medical Geneticist for a locum of 6 months, commencing July 1, 2017, or as soon thereafter as possible. Certification in Medical Genetics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or in Clinical Genetics by the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists is preferred. Applicants must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Candidates with equivalent training will also be considered. Compensation is derived from fee-for-service income along with a baseline payment from the WRHA. The position is located at the Health Sciences Centre.

The WRHA Genetics and Metabolism Program provides services to over 5,000 patients annually through clinics and in-patient consultations covering all aspects or genetics care including general genetics, prenatal diagnosis, metabolic disease, and cancer. The program offers a unique and exciting academic environment. The Medical Genetics Training Program is fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Our centre is also accredited by the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists for training in Molecular genetics and cytogenetics. Our program has close collaboration with the basic science Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics providing ample research opportunities. Equal emphasis is placed on clinical practice, teaching, and clinical and research.
