Medical Geneticist

The Department of Pediatrics and Child Health and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Genetics and Metabolism Program are seeking applications for a contingent geographic full-time position in the program of Genetics and Metabolism.

Certification in either Medical Genetics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or in Clinical Biochemical Genetics by the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists is required. Candidates with equivalent training will also be considered. Applicants must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.  The successful candidate, depending on interests and expertise, will primarily work in the clinical realm, but can expect flexibility with respect to amount of protected time for research   and the time, if any, devoted to metabolic or general genetics services.  Compensation is based on fee-for-service income as well as an annual supplementary payment as per Doctors Manitoba agreement.

The Genetics and Metabolism program provides services to over 5,000 patients annually through clinics and in-patient consultations covering all aspects or genetics care including general genetics, prenatal diagnosis, metabolic disease, and cancer. The program offers a unique and exciting academic environment. The Medical Genetics Training Program is fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Our center is also accredited by the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists for training in Molecular genetics and cytogenetics. Our program has close collaboration with the basic science Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics providing ample research opportunities. An accredited Graduate Program for Genetic Counseling has been established with the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics.  Physicians may be eligible for a recruitment incentive.  Please contact physicianrecruitment@whra.mb.ca for further information.

This position will commence January 1st, 2018 or as soon thereafter as possible.
