Each year in Winnipeg approximately 1- 2 cyclists die and another 90 are hospitalized due to injuries, with an average length of stay of 9.2 days. (WRHA, Injury Data Report 2014). Safe travel for cyclists and pedestrians is a complex issue that includes the routes and infrastructure available, use of safety equipment, knowledge, behaviour and attitudes of all road users including cyclists, pedestrians and motorists, legislation that addresses road safety and enforcement of the legislation.
