Accessibility

Disability affects the lives of many Manitobans. Today, one in six Manitobans has a disability, and the number will continue to grow as our population ages.

The Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA) became law in December, 2013, and applies to all organizations that provide goods and services, including the WRHA. The AMA includes five main standards: customer service, employment, information and communication, transportation and built environment. All these standards must be complied with by 2023.

To help us develop a culture of accessibility for the benefit of both those we serve and our staff, you'll find accessibility training modules and communication tools designed to support this important work. We'll continue to update the site as new resources become available. Check back frequently for the latest information, and watch for more information in Healthcare Connections, the regional newsletter for staff.

Accessible Customer Service Training for WRHA staff

All WRHA staff are required to complete Accessible Customer Service Training by Nov. 1, 2017.

The WRHA has developed Accessible Customer Service Training in compliance with provincial government legislation that requires that all public sector institutions comply with the Customer Service Standard, also by Nov. 1, 2017.

An online training module is now available through LMS. All staff and physicians must complete this training.

Accessible Customer Service Training can be found via your LMS account.

Login here and search for “accessibility”: https://manitoba-ehealth.learnflex.net.

Please ensure your SAP Person ID number has been attached to your LMS account so your completion is recorded. Instructions are posted on the Welcome page.

Instructions for managers of staff who do not have a WRHA work email and/or don’t have access to the LMS, can be found on this Insite page: Accessible Customer Service Training.
