The process

Along with physical consultation in Winnipeg and Churchill with Local Health Involvement Groups and employees, senior leadership throughout the Region (and the Boards of health care agencies/facilities) was consulted.

Two surveys for staff and the public were integral in providing feedback on what key strategies need to be for the next five years. With over 3,000 survey responses, themes emerged that were taken into consideration when the Region’s Board of Directors oversaw the strategic planning process.

The 2014 Community Health Assessment, which provided a current snapshot of Winnipeg’s current make-up, health status, determinants of health and healthcare access, also weighed significantly into creating a plan to support the current and future health and wellness of the community.

These voices - very different but offering essential feedback about priorities and needs - helped shape the creation of a unified vision for the Winnipeg Health Region over the next five years.
