Quality Improvement & Accreditation
Services Unit

The Quality Improvement Division supports the WRHA programs and sites in their efforts to promote and achieve high quality care and service, provide key information to facilitate effective knowledge management and evidence based decision making.

Initiatives for Quality Improvement are:

  • Regional Accreditation - evaluation of the healthcare system against national standards.

  • Standard Audits - audit standards of care.

  • Balanced Score Card/Performance Reporting - reporting performance of programs, service areas and the organization as a whole. Improve access to information to enable consistent and comprehensive reporting of organizational effectiveness that will assist in providing evidence to support future organizational decisions.

  • Quality Improvement Plans and Activities - assist programs and services in developing and monitoring their quality improvement activities.

  • Risk Management / Complaints Management - education, awareness and the provision of tools, processes and systems to assist in the identification of risk and the development of risk mitigation strategies. And responding to complainants, providing a service navigation role, and assisting parties to resolve issues of concern, providing follow-up and investigation where necessary.

  • Occurrence Management and Reporting- assisting programs and services in reviewing reasons for errors or mistakes and facilitating improvements in the system to prevent recurrences.

  • Risk Assessment, Monitoring and Mitigation
