Mission, Vision and Goals

Mission

Through collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders Aboriginal Health Programs will build the capacity within the Winnipeg Health Region to respond to the needs of the Aboriginal community.

Vision Statement

"As a team of knowledgeable professionals, we are committed to the provision of respectful and responsive services that reflect the values, beliefs and culture of our community. We deliver a continuum of innovative, integrated, and efficient services in a friendly and bias-free manner to our valued clients and community. We ensure that the diversity of perspectives is welcomed and valued in each caring relationship.

As a dynamic team, we are accountable to each other, our partners, and the organization as we work collectively and productively towards achieving our goals. We value open and effective communications that reflect caring, sharing, honesty and humility while demonstrating respect for diversity and traditions. We can be relied upon for being attentive to needs, flexible, and welcoming with each other and others.

Aboriginal Health Programs strengthen the ability of individuals and the community to be informed participants in all decision-making processes. We support full participation in provision of accessible and appropriate care and services leading to an improved health status for the Aboriginal community. The team facilitates the building of understanding and trusting relationships within WRHA programs and the Aboriginal community leading to enhanced and sustainable service delivery structures and programs and the creation of a representative workforce. We are a resource to the WRHA and will contribute to the restoration of health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities through the development of a health care system that is free of barriers."
