Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre

Yellow fever is currently one of the only diseases under the International Health Regulations (IHR) (2005) for which proof of vaccination may be required for travellers as a condition of entry to a country. (*Note: On May 5th, 2014 the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the recent spread of poliovirus (polio) a public health emergency of international concern. They issued temporary polio vaccination recommendations under the IHR to prevent further spread of the virus worldwide.) Our clinic is designated as a Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre in Canada, through the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).  In order to be designated and to maintain such designation, PHAC requires each health care site to fulfill certain requirements, as far as licensure of health care practitioner, ability to administer yellow fever vaccine under provincial legislation, available policies and procedures around safe and appropriate administration of yellow fever vaccine, available reference resources, and cold chain policies.  Yearly requirements of maintaining such designation through PHAC are also in place. Please refer to “Procedures for Yellow Fever Vaccination Centres in Canada” for further details.
